We have an absolute bounty of mangoes in Sydney at the moment. I am loving them with muesli for breakfast or with yoghurt for dessert. In fact they are going so cheap I have taken to using them in smoothies. If you are in Sydney I recommend the “imperfect picks” mangoes from Harris Farms Markets – super cheap, delicious and I have been unable to detect what makes them imperfect and therefore a fraction of the price. If you don’t have access to affordable fresh mangoes, you could substitute frozen mangoes.
The two smoothies below use mango, banana and almond milk as the base and are then jazzed up with either turmeric and maca powder or chilled chai tea and cinnamon.
- 1 Mango
- 1 banana (I used half frozen, half fresh)
- 1.5 cups of almond milk (for added decadence and a mango lassi type effect you could add a splash of coconut milk or cream)
Method Slice mango and banana and add to the blender. If using turmeric – add together with full serving of almond milk, blitz and enjoy. If using chai tea, add cold tea to the blender, add the same quantity of almond milk, together with the cinnamon, blitz and enjoy.
